Framing is about the words, images and messages we choose – and the way we tell the story. This guide helps us make framing choices that build understanding and drive positive change for children, families and communities.
This resource is for everyone who is interested in communicating effectively about the wellbeing of children, young people and families (particularly communications and policy professionals, advocates, practitioners, content creators).
Where did the Framing Checklist come from?
This tool has been created as part of the Queensland Kids Partnership’s Strategic Framing Initiative.
It presents a summary of framing strategies, recommendations and concepts from Australian-based research produced by the FrameWorks Institute, commissioned by key partners including Parenting Research Centre, The Kids Research Institute, Emerging Minds, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, and related toolkits regarding children and youth in Australia.
This complements other framing resources, such as the Framing for Change Learning Hub.

The Framing Checklist has two associated documents:

Full 10-page Framing Checklist has been designed primarily to be used as a digital PDF booklet to allow you to explore a wide range of recommendations and strategies.
The Framing checklist-on-a-page is included in the full 10-page booklet is included in the booklet and has also be designed as a stand-alone page optimised for printing and displaying.
