Learning Hubs

Queensland Hubs Exchange of Expertise & Learning

Hubs provide safe, friendly places, where families can access the supports and services they need, and connect with others.
For those of us navigating the journey of parenting, hubs can be like lighthouses or safe harbours – especially when we’re going through rough waters.

The QHEEL journey so far

The aim of Queensland Hubs Exchange of Expertise and Learning (QHEEL) Initiative is to support hubs with the connections, knowledge, skills and strategies they need. So they can support children and families with the right supports at the right time.
Through an EOI process in late 2025, we offered Queensland hubs four opportunities to engage in capability building and innovation.
  • Immersion e.g. visits to other hubs for peer-to-peer learning
  • Accessing Capability e.g. through accessing free training, peer mentoring, coaching, community of practice
  • Delivering Capability e.g. through funding to deliver training, peer mentoring, coaching, community of practice
  • Innovation Groups to collectively develop and test solutions to system challenges as referenced in the Queensland Child and Family Hubs Framework
The offerings will support hubs to achieve:
Increased capabilities – Hub leaders and practitioners can develop a shared understanding of what good practice looks like in a hub; and improved knowledge, confidence and skills.
Productive engagement – Hub leaders and practitioners connect with each other and work together in ways that are more productive and can tackle systems change.
Practice learning and change – Hub leaders and practitioners learn about good practice, make improvements and use the learning in practice.

The first immersion bus tour of hubs in Logan

In March 2026, ten participants from across Queensland took part in a two-day immersion coordinated by QKP – the first offering of the Queensland Hub Exchange Expertise and Learning (QHEEL) initiative funded by Minderoo Foundation to June 2027.

Together, the group visited five hubs in Logan, with learning opportunities including a cross-sectoral panel considering the impact, needs and policy landscape of hubs, and a networking dinner.

A recurring theme was that each hub is shaped by local voices in finding their own way to provide children and families with the right supports, at the right time, in the right way. And for families navigating the journey of parenting, hubs are like welcome lighthouses or safe harbours, especially when the waters get rough.

A big thanks to immersion hosts Settlement Services International, Village Connect, Gunya Meta, the Benevolent Society, and FamilyLinQ.

Upcoming opportunities

QHEEL is currently working with hubs and partners to develop more learning opportunities including the following:

QHEEL is supporting the dissemination of First Nations wisdom through QKP’s partnership with the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Peak (QATSICPP). Along with other state-based peaks and SNAICC, QATSICPP staff were involved with development of a 2-day national training and development package known as Waterways which focuses on cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed practice.

QKP is keen to leverage QATSICPP’s expertise in supporting access to the Waterways training by interested Queensland child and family hubs. The training will be complemented by a 1-day immersion tour of Aboriginal and Torres Islander Community Controlled Organisations to experience their cultural ways of knowing, being and doing in practice.

This 3-day package will be delivered free at a site each in Northern Queensland and south-east Queensland in the second half of 2026, with dates and locations to be confirmed.

If your child and family hub would like a practitioner and manager to access this exciting opportunity, please email sophie.morson@aracy.org.au to register your interest.

As this is a new initiative, we have prepared a comprehensive overview document explaining the new Queensland Exchange of Expertise and Learning initiative and how to apply for the four offerings designed to boost hubs and support Queensland children to thrive.

As this is a brand new initiative, we understand that you may have lots of questions.

We have created a comprehensive FAQ document which includes answers to general questions about the application process, as well as specific questions relating to the different types of learning opportunities on offer.

Prior to submitting your online EOI, you will likely find it helpful to preview the questions and draft your answers into the Word document below. You will then be able to have everything ready in one place, so you can easily copy your answers over into the Online EOI Form

Use the button below to access the Online EOI Form.

Please note that the Online EOI Form doesn’t allow drafts to be saved so you may like to first prepare your answers in this Word document form so that you have everything ready prior to completing the online EOI.

If you are applying for an Immersion (i.e. a visit to another hub), you will also need to fill in and upload the Immersion Budget form to your online EOI.

If you are applying to deliver capability, you will need to fill in and upload the Capability Budget form to your online EOI.

A voluntary online Information Session is planned for Monday 20 October as an easy way to answer any remaining questions regarding the EOI.

To register your interest in the Information Session, please email sophie.morson@aracy.org.au
