Resilience Scale Resource
This Child Protection Week (7–13 September 2025), let’s keep building a shared language around what children need.
Children thrive when communities come together to:
– Add positive supports (‘green boxes’)
– Reduce adversity (‘red boxes’)
– Build skills and abilities
That’s the core message behind the Resilience Scale resource – a partnership for Queensland Child Protection Week (7–13 September 2025). Designed for anyone working with children and families, the resource offers a simple, visual tool to talk about how we can support every child and family according to their needs.
– What positive supports can we intentionally add?
– What adversities can we reduce or prevent?
– What skills and abilities can we help children grow?
Developed by the FrameWorks Institute in collaboration with the Harvard Center on the Developing Child, the Resilience Scale has been tested in Australia and championed globally, including by our partners at the Palix Foundation and Alberta Family Wellness Initiative.
The metaphor helps us understand that ‘what surrounds us shapes us’: communities, positive relationships, environments, and experiences strengthen a child’s capacity to handle life’s challenges.
👉 Use the resource to share the concept of the Resilience Scale with others, to spark conversations, and as a guide for your own work.
