Disasters are increasing in frequency and severity across Australia, and in Queensland these events pose significant risks to the safety, wellbeing and development of 1.6 million kids.
The Thriving Kids in Disasters (TKiD) initiative engages a cross sectoral, multidisciplinary alliance of collaborators, working together to increase the visibility and agency of kids in all disaster management (DM) phases and spaces.
The TKiD Action and Investment Plan provides strategies for funders, decision-makers, communities and organisations to enact impactful solutions and opportunities for resilience building that explicitly encompass the social, physical, mental and cultural wellbeing of kids, families and communities within the broader context of disaster risk reduction.
